Work With Me
I design and facilitate creative writing and poetry workshops, and I write essays and cultural criticism. Here's how we can work together.
-
I design and facilitate poetry and creative writing workshops for cultural institutions, professional networks, universities, organizations, and community groups - online or in person (depending on location), in English and Spanish.
My approach is participant-centered and trauma-informed. I don't teach writing as a technical skill - I create the conditions for people to actually write: through structured prompts, permission to be unfinished, and facilitation that meets participants where they are. I work with multilingual and international groups, and I adapt my methodology to the context, the participants, and what the session is actually for.
I offer three workshop formats:
Words at Work: A single-session workshop for professional and organizational contexts. Designed for teams, convenings, or events that want to bring writing practice into a non-literary setting - as a tool for reflection, team building, or creative thinking. Available in English and Spanish.
Writing Our Migrations: A workshop on language, belonging, and the experience of moving between worlds - linguistic, geographic, cultural. Built for multilingual and diasporic participants, but accessible to anyone navigating questions of identity and place. Delivered at the Res Artis international arts residency convention (FAAP, São Paulo, 2025) and for a global feminist network (Black Feminist Collective, 2025). Available as a single session or a series.
Writing Toward Something: A multi-session participatory series designed collaboratively with the commissioning organization. For groups with a specific purpose - processing a shared experience, building toward a publication, creating space for voices that don't usually get space. Includes needs assessment, custom workshop design, facilitation across sessions, and optional documentation of participant writing with consent.
Starting at $350 per session. Multi-session and organizational pricing on request.

I write essays, book reviews, and cultural criticism for publications and platforms that want writing with a real point of view. My work engages with language, culture, identity, diaspora, and the politics of how we tell stories. I write in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Starting at $200 per piece, up to 1,000 words. Longer pieces by scope.

I write and edit communications content for organizations - reports, newsletters, website copy, briefing documents, strategic messaging, and editorial content. Available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole. Not available for translation or interpreting work.
Starting at $50/hour or project-based pricing by scope.

Workshop Participant Feedback
“I had a great time at the Writing Our Migrations workshop. It was a first for me to join a workshop where writing and reflecting collectively on this specific thing were the main focuses. And it helped set my tone for the year. Despite intending to only sit in on it that first time, I found myself contemplating little things in new ways from the prompts and conversation. Such as even my decision alone to quietly participate and how it connected to my lifelong struggle of having a billion thoughts I want to share in my natural way of thinking and speaking but, because of the struggles of growing up cross-culturally, not always trusting that my organic thoughts should be conveyed until I can observe quietly and mold them to be received. And how in doing so, sometimes I forget that I too am allowed to carve out my own unique place in any circumstance I find myself in, rather than to always search first for small openings to reduce and fit the self into. The openness of the other participants was something I truly appreciated witnessing in this aspect as well. I also enjoyed how the prompts induced new perspectives on memories that have already spent so much time living within me. It was really fun and I'm glad to have started my year off that way. Thank you!!!”
— K., Writing Our Migrations, , 2026“Participating in the Writing Our Migrations workshop, with Tamara Isaac, was a very meaningful experience for me. The warmth and encouragement to write during the session made all the difference, creating a space to experiment and share.
Reading poetry in three languages about migration processes broadened my perspective on experiences I have not lived myself. At the same time, I was able to contribute reflections on the migrations from the Northeast to São Paulo and the struggles lived in the peripheries, bringing into the circle what I know and what runs through my own reality.”
