Meet Tamara
Tamara Isaac is a Haitian language justice specialist, communications coordinator, and writer based in Brazil. With a law degree specializing in migration and refugee law, she brings over a decade of experience bridging language gaps for international social justice organizations, including Purposeful, AfroResistance, and the Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti.
She is the author of the poetry collection Não Quero Ser Outra (Toma Ai Um Poema, 2024), finalist for the Prêmio LOBA 2025, and has been published in numerous anthologies and literary magazines. As the co-founder of Atizay, she amplified Black visual artists across the Americas and beyond. Her writing centers migration, disability justice, and the politics of language, and has appeared in Black Feminist Collective, AfroLatin@ Forum’s Pensamientos Blog, and other literary platforms.
Fluent in French, Haitian Creole, English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, she facilitates creative writing workshops and provides language justice consulting for organizations committed to equity and accessibility.
